The South Carolina Alliance unites faith leaders, civic leaders and people from across many religions and backgrounds—Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and beyond—to defend human dignity and advance religious rights. The Alliance invites all to work together to safeguard the free exercise of religion for all.

There is a better way to resolve differences without compromising core values. We need to live together in peace and mutual respect, to foster human flourishing.

Keynote Speaker

Elder Alexander Dushku

Elder Alexander Dushku was called as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 15, 2023. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a stake president.

Elder Dushku has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Portugal Lisbon Mission, elders quorum president, counselor in a bishopric, high councilor, bishop, and stake president.

Columbia Religious Freedom Chair

Judge Clemmons

Judge Alan D. Clemmons is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Hamline University School of Law. He practiced law privately in Myrtle Beach from 1990 until his appointment as Master in Equity in 2022. During his eighteen years in the South Carolina House of Representatives, he served twelve years as Chairman of the Rules Committee and eight years on the Judicial Merit Selection Commission, finishing as its Chairman. He also served as a Director of the South Carolina Bureau of Economic Advisors and the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office. His leadership and public service have earned him numerous honors, including the Order of the Palmetto, the Thomas Jefferson Freedom Award, and other national and international recognitions.

RFAC National Coordinator

Hannah Smith

Hannah Smith serves as the National Coordinator of the Religious Freedom Alliance Council, leading the coordination of speakers and resources to support local alliance members. She has spent her career advocating for religious freedom as an attorney and on national media.
